Reading the Quran but Practicing Something Else Is The Prevalent Culture...
The real purpose of the Qur'an is to give guidance to the individual human being who has been created to worship Allah.
Allah says:
"...Indeed there has come to you from Allah a Light and a Clear Book. With it Allah guides whoever follows His good pleasure to the ways of peace and brings them out from the darkness into the light by His permission: He guides them onto a straight path" (Qur'an 5:15-16)
All Muslims must consider their position in religion in relation to the Qur'an. Reciting the Qur'an without a sincere effort to understand the verses directly will not enlighten the human soul. One of contemporary scholars observed that people do not read the Qur'an except when someone dies. They recite the Qur'an on a dead body but this is not the aim of the Qur'an. The Qur'an is revealed for the living and not for those who have passed away.
On the authority of Abu Malik al-Harith bin 'Asim al-Ash'ari, radiyallahu 'anhu, who said: The Messenger of Allah, Muhammad (pbuh), said:
The Qur'an is an argument either for you or against you. Everybody goes out in the morning and sell themselves, thereby setting themselves free or destroying themselves.' [Muslim]
The hadith explains the role of the holy Qur'an in our lives. It states that 'The Qur'an is either an argument and proof for or against you'.

In Surah al-Isra Ayah 82 Allah says:
'We send down the Qur'an that which is a healing and mercy for those who believe and for the unjust people it causes nothing but loss after loss.'
So people who recite the Qur'an, learn it and practice its rulings are people who become the people of the Qur'an and it (the Qur'an) will be a proof for them. But those who ignore the Qur'an and never read or practice it in their lives, then the Qur'an will stand against them during the Day of Judgment.
We must place the Quran in the center of Islam and be aware of the fact that abiding by the Quran means living up to the standards of the Prophet, and free our religion from falsehoods. The Prophet’s only complaint addressed to Allah was:
'And the Messenger (will) say: ‘O My Lord, indeed my people took this Qur’aan as something worthy of being abandoned!’' [25:30]
Sura Furqan-25 The Distinguisher, verse 30
Actually, this is the behavior of many disciples of the Prophet. The Quran is supposed to have a privileged place, it is holy; yet, it has become a book that people do not follow. It has turned out to be just one of the religious books. The Quran is recited today not to be understood but to be heard.
Let us ask ourselves: how much do we know about the Qur'an? Not superficial knowledge like the number of chapters or verses, or which city a chapter was revealed in, but the message in its Verses and their many intricacies and secrets. How much wisdom have you gained from the Qur'an? Have you read the entire Qur'an even once in your own language? How many times a day do you refer to the Verses of the Qur'an as you lead your day to day life? Are you sure whether any of your outlooks are from the Qur'an, or is your religion muddled?
Obligations Muslim Owe to Quran...
"The most superior (the best) among you (Muslims) are those who learn Quran and teach it to others."
[Sahih Bukhari: Volume 6, Book 61, Number 545]
The Qur´an makes five demands from every Muslim, which are as follows:
1- A Muslim is required to believe in the Qur´an;
2- He is required to read it;
3- He is required to understand it;
4- He is required to act upon its teachings;
5- He is required to convey its teachings to others
Allah says in Quran four times in Sura 054 Al-Qamar (Verse 17:22:32:40)
“And We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition?”
Take a few seconds to reflect on at least one Ayah (verse) from the Holy Qur'an a day!
The value of the Quran is not knowing it, but obeying it.(Allah)

May Allah give us grace (Tawfeeq) to fulfill all the rights of the Qur'an. Ameen
I believe that the need of the hour is to explain and spread the teachings and wisdom of the Holy Quran, first among the Muslims themselves and then among the entire humankind.
This can be achieved only through sincere and tireless efforts of those young men and women who decide to dedicate their lives to the learning and teaching of the Book of Allah (Quran).
O Our Lord! Be merciful to us because of (our link with) the Qur’an; make it for us a leader, (and a source of) light, guidance, and mercy, cause us to recall from it what we have failed to understand; give us strength to recite it day and night; and make it a plea for our salvation, O Lord of the worlds. Ameen!
