A believing women, virtuous, sincere, pure, on the Right path, a mother, a sister, a wife, a protector, an educator,
a keeper of purity of the hearts, a Mujahidah - a Muslim woman!!
About
the position and the role of a Muslim women within the Islamic Society,
the Qur’anic text is speaking a lot of, in various contexts and
numerous verses and chapters.
The
word ‘women’ in Qur’an is mentioned on 56 places, in 50 various verses
and 15 various chapters. The word ‘woman’ we find on 26 places, 25
various verses and 8 various chapters.
The third largest Qur’anic chapter is entitled as ‘An-Nisa’ which means ‘Women’.
This
alone is speaking much about the venerable position Allah gave a women
in Islam, about her glorious place in it, and the blessed loftiness.
With lots of attention and clear reasons the Qur’anic text is speaking
about women who had an emphasized place and role in the process of
building the humanity, such as mother of Musaa (as), or Balqis, the
Queen of Sabah, or Maryam, the mother of Isaa (as), or Asya, a pharaoh’s
wife…
They
are those who will remain as symbols in the long Pleiades of righteous,
chosen, virtuous, intelligent and educated women, who used their
various potentials and implemented them into the history of mankind and
the Islamic Ummah as well.
Because of her obedience and submission, the honor to be mentioned in Allahs Holy Book, was given to the mother of Musaa (as):
“And
We revealed to Musa's mothers, saying: Give him suck, then when you
fear for him, cast him into the river and do not fear nor grieve; surely
We will bring him back to you and make him one of the messengers.” (Al Qasas, 7)
Asiya,
the wife of pharaoh – the tyrannical ruler of the World, was given the
same honor because she succeeded to keep her faith:
“And
Allah sets forth an example to those who believe the wife of pharaoh
when she said: My Lord! build for me a house with Thee in the garden and
deliver me from pharaoh and his doing, and deliver me from the unjust
people” (Al Tahrim, 11)
Maryam,
a mother of Isaa (as), one of His clearest and most magnificent proves.
He the Exalted sent angels in person to be the bringers of glad tidings
for Maryam because of her intensity of worshipping Him, because of her
dignity, virtuosity, and purity as well as her loftiness and supremacy
over other women on dunya and Akhirah. Chosen to be a mother of a great
Allahs Prophet, but without husband.
That, because Allah the Exalted ordered so, and He is the all-Mighty:
“And
when the angels said: O Maryam! Surely Allah has chosen you and
purified you and chosen you above the women of the world. O Maryam! Keep
to obedience to your Lord and humble yourself, and bow down with those
who bow.” (Ali Imran, 42-43)
“When
the angels said: O Maryam, surely Allah gives you good news with a Word
from Him (of one) whose name is the '. Messiah, Isaa son of Maryam,
worthy of regard in this world and the hereafter and of those who are
made near (to Allah). And he shall speak to the people when in the
cradle and when of old age, and (he shall be) one of the good ones. She
said: My Lord! when shall there be a son (born) to I me, and man has not
touched me? He said: Even so, Allah creates what He pleases; when He
has decreed a matter, He only says to it, Be, and it is.” (Ali Imran 45-47)
Queen
Balqis, a wise politician and ruler of a Kingdom of Saba, who’s fortune
didn’t prevent her to become a sincere Muslimah and to follow the
Truth:
“Surely I found a woman ruling over them, and she has been given abundance and she has a mighty throne:” (An Naml 23)
“She
said: O chief! Surely an honorable letter has been delivered to me.
Surely it is from Sulaiman, and surely it is in the name of Allah, the
Beneficent, the Merciful;” (An Naml, 29-30)
“She
said: O chiefs! give me advice respecting my affair: I never decide an
affair until you are in my presence. They said: We are possessors of
strength and possessors of mighty prowess, and the command is yours,
therefore see what you will command. She said: Surely the kings, when
they enter a town, ruin it and make the noblest of its people to be low,
and thus they (always) do; And surely I am going to send a present to
them, and shall wait to see what (answer) do the messengers bring back.” (An Naml, 32-35)
“It
was said to her: Enter the palace; but when she saw it she deemed it to
be a great expanse of water, and bared her legs. He said: Surely it is a
palace made smooth with glass. She said: My Lord! surely I have been
unjust to myself, and I submit with Sulaiman to Allah, the Lord of the
worlds.” (An Naml, 44)
Through the mentioned verses and many more others we are witnessing the great position the Lord of the Worlds gave a woman.
Very important here is the fact that a man and a women are coming from one and the same species:
“And
Allah has made wives for you from among yourselves, and has given you
sons and grandchildren from your wives, and has given you of the good
things; is it then in the falsehood that they believe while it is in the
favor of Allah that they disbelieve?” (An Nahl, 72)
“And
one of His signs is that He created mates for you from yourselves that
you may find rest in them, and He put between you love and compassion;
most surely there are signs in this for a people who reflect.” (Ar Rum, 21)
These
words of the Exalted Creator are a reflection of His Mercy and Blessing
towards man, who finds peace and eternal fortress of love and mercy
alongside a woman. Allah established love and mercy between a man and a
woman, and they are the most important characteristic’s of a marriage.
“Surely
those who accuse chaste believing women, unaware (of the evil), are
cursed in this world and the hereafter, and they shall have a grievous
chastisement.” (An Nur, 23)
This
verse is one of the clearest proves of a magnificent care for a woman
and the preservation of her chastity and loftiness which are presented
to her in Allahs Holy Book.
Man
and woman are equal regards right and obligations and dignity, and they
both have the same mission on Earth. They are Allahs khalif’s and the
Exalted Creator is treating them equally. Their right and obligations on
this world are in accordance to their nature, affinity, and
capabilities. The differences between man and woman in some laws are a
result of their natural difference and the different roles in some
spheres of life.
When
ever the Qur’an is speaking to man, he is speaking to women as well by
using the expressions like “O people”, or “O believers”. And both are
finding them self’s in it.
And
about the equality in presents and rewards and giving honor which Allah
is promising His slaves, be they men or women, under the condition that
they be sincere believers, the followers of the Right path and the
Truth, following Qur’anic verse is speaking:
“Whoever
does good whether male or female and he is a believer, We will most
certainly make him live a happy life, and We will most certainly give
them their reward for the best of what they did.” (An Nahl, 97)
So
for every sincere believer, the Qur’anic text should be the leading
idea and an indicator through life. A text that rose woman above on a
sublime level and an appropriate place for her, where she will not be
oppressed, maltreated, humiliated, left without identity, worth and
right. This is a gift from Heaven to all sincere and humble mothers,
sisters, daughters and wife’s.
Islam
is changing the position of a woman from its fundamentals, giving her
freedom, bringing back her fundamental rights for life, identity, the
disposal of assets, the free choice of a husband, heritage, work, her
contribution in publicly, religious and political life
The Muslimah was in the position to have an education, and to educate others.
The
wife’s, daughters, sisters, mothers, aunts and cousins of Allahs
Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), and as well those of his companions were
educated and they were engaged in science, and took actively part in the
publicly, political, religious, and economic life..and more then that
they even took part in Jihad be it directly in clashes with the enemy,
as fighters, or as nurses alongside the moral and logistical support.
