Submit to Allah - Do not custom-make Islam!

This article is inspired by one of our favorite Shaykh, Imaam Anwar al-Awlaki (may Allah accept him amongst the shuhadah)

Allah says in Qur'an (Surah 13: Verse 29):
"Verily! Only in the remembrance of Allah will your heart find peace."
The word Islam means 'Submitting oneself to Allah (Subhanu wa ta'ala)'

One is able to say that he has completely submitted himself to Allah when:

- He obeys Allah by performing the obligatory deeds enjoined upon him (five daily prayers, zakah, charity, fasting in Ramadan and completing Hajj) .

"And worship your Lord until there comes to you the certainty (death)" (Al-Hijr:99)

"It is not fitting for the believing man nor for the believing woman, that whenever Allah and His Messenger have decided any matter, that they should have any other opinion." (Quran 33:36)

- He forbids the evil and enjoins what is good.

"You are the best community that has been raised for mankind. You enjoin good and forbid evil and you believe in Allah." (Al-Imran, 3:110)

"The believers, men and women, are protectors of each other: they enjoin what is right and forbid what is evil." (Tauba, 9:71)

- Obeys the Prophet Muhammed (saws).

"And obey Allah and the Messenger so that you may be blessed." (Surat Al Imraan 3:132)

"And obey Allah and obey the Messenger and beware." (Suratul Maaidah 5:92)

"He who obeys the Messenger has indeed obeyed Allah, but he who turns away, then we have not sent you as a watcher over them." (Quran 4:80)

- Dealing patiently when being tested by Allah. Passing the trials with goodness, staying devoted to Allah in every incident, showing good morality at all times whether Allah increases or decreases the blessings He endows, turning to Him when sick or healthy and thank Him and trust in Him no matter what.

"Every self will taste death. We test you with both good and evil as a trial. And you will be returned to Us." (Surat al-Anbiya’, 35)
This is Islam. Peace gained by submitting oneself to Allah alone.

We submit to Allah even if its against our own will, even if its against your own desires, you give up what you want for the sake of Allah. But we want to follow the religion of Islam according to our understanding, according to our convenience and to our spare time. We do not pray Fajr as Qada after the time has passed just so that we could get that extra amount of sleep, we do not abandon Hijab just because we won't look good enough, we do not entertain ourselves from the Haram entertainment just so that we could pass some time, we do not backbite just to please the desire of our tongue,  we do not disobey the Lord of the East and the West and yet claim as Islam as our religion to follow the lust of this temporary world. No. We do not custom-make Islam. Rather, we change ourselves to fit in to Islam

Its time that we need to wake up, we wake up and submit ourselves to Allah before it is too late.
Allah says in Qur'an:

"And turn in repentance and in obedience with true Faith (Islamic Monotheism) to your Lord and submit to Him, (in Islam), before the torment comes upon you, then you will not be helped." (Surah Zumar:54)
