The Pursuit of Happiness

By: Sheikh Omar Bakri Muhammad

The Pursuit of Happiness

Happiness is something we all strive for. Who doesn’t want to be happy and to have a good life? But the question is: what is a good life?
Some people hate their lives and they are always feeling sad and depressed. On the other hand, there are people who enjoy life and are always happy and smiling. Why is this? And what is the cause of happiness?
In the Hereafter the good life will be in Paradise. But what is it in this life? Let us see what Allah (SWT) says – the One who gave us life:
مَنْ عَمِلَ صَالِحًا مِنْ ذَكَرٍ أَوْ أُنْثَى وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ فَلَنُحْيِيَنَّهُ حَيَاةً طَيِّبَةً وَلَنَجْزِيَنَّهُمْ أَجْرَهُمْ بِأَحْسَنِ مَا كَانُوا يَعْمَلُونَ
Whoever does the good deeds, whether male or female, while he (or she) is a true believer, verily to him We will give a good life (in this world with respect, contentment and lawful provision), and We shall pay them certainly a reward in proportion to the best of what they used to do (i.e. Paradise in the Hereafter). (16:97)
Everything you do in this life will either be recorded for or against you. Every single second, minute, hour, day, week and month which pass by could either make you closer to Allah or lead you to Hell and His anger.
Allah provides us with food, fresh fruits, meat, drink, water, sunlight and much more. When a person wakes up in the morning, who is it that gives back his sight, hearing, mind and soul? Who is it that makes you healthy while others are suffering? Allah provides us with so many ni’am (blessings) so that we love and thank Him.
Allah wants us to do what is obligatory and to keep away from what He has prohibited. Whoever thinks that by obeying Him or coming closer to him will lead to miserable life is wrong; in fact, they have bad thoughts about Allah. Allah (SWT) says:
مَا أَنْزَلْنَا عَلَيْكَ الْقُرْآنَ لِتَشْقَى
We have not sent down the Qur’an unto you to cause you distress. (20:2)

Your children are not safe under the kuffr education system

Islamic education

The youth of this generation are the leaders and governors of the future. Consequently their education, ways of thinking and values are of great importance in shaping the world of tomorrow. Consider the attitudes and values of the younger generation around you. Are you content with the possibility that theirs and your future is in safe hands? If not, you’re not alone. The Western education system’s hidden agenda begins from the primary school all the way through to university. If further generations of Muslims go through this system without realizing its errors and dangers, the Islamic identity could be lost.

This is not to say that education should be avoided. Muhammad (saw) stresses the importance of education in many hadeeths and that we must learn, seek knowledge and teach this knowledge to other people. For example in the book of, at-Tirmidhi, Anas reported that the Prophet (saw) said, “Whoever goes out in search of knowledge he is in the path of Allah until he returns.” The book of at-Tirmidhi also states that the Prophet (saw) is reported to have said that seeking knowledge is an obligation for every single person.

In the early stages of primary school, many Muslim parents take an active interest in their children’s education. These parents want their children to seek knowledge and believe that by ensuring their children attend school they are providing their children with the opportunity to learn and become the successful and educated citizens of tomorrow.

The Mouse Trap !!!

A farmer and his wife just came back home from doing some grocery shopping. While unpacking their shopping bags, a Mouse was carefully observing their actions and mumbled "hmmm... what food did they bring from the market this time??"

Apparently, what had been bought by the farmer on that day was a Mouse Trap. The Mouse became extremely panicky.

It rushed to its lair and yelled frantically, "There is a mousetrap in the house…. now, in the house… is a mousetrap!!...."

It then complained to the Chicken and screamed, "There is a mousetrap!" Then, the Chicken said, "Mr. Mouse! I am equally sad but it does not have anything to do with me."

Then, the Mouse went away to see the Goat while yelling as before.

Principles of Takfeer

Imaam Muhammad Ibn Abdul Wahhab
ad-Durar as-Sanniyyah 1/102-104

The Shaykh was asked concerning that for which he fights, and upon what does he make takfir of a person.

He replied,
“The five pillars of Islam. The first of them [by which he disbelieves] is the two testimonies of faith, then the remaining four pillars. However, if he affirms their obligation but abandons them out of neglect, then even though we fight him in order to make him act upon them, we do not declare him a disbeliever by mere abandonment of them. The scholars have differed about the disbelief of the one who abandoned the prayer out of laziness, without willful denial, juhood. So we do not perform takfir on account of anything except what the all of the scholars are united upon, and that is the two testimonies of faith.
And also, we make takfir of him after acquaintance. That is after he knows, and then rejects it. So we say that those who are our enemies are of different types:

The first type: The one who comes to know that the Tawheed that is the deen of Allaah and His Messenger, is the very one that we have brought to the people, and who also affirms that these beliefs concerning the stones, trees, and men, which is the deen of the majority of the people, that it is Shirk with Allaah, and is that which Allaaah sent His Messenger to prohibit, and that he fight its people so that the all of the deen is for Allaah. So alongside all of this he does not turn to Tawheed, and does not learn it and does not enter into it, and he does not abandon Shirk, then this one is a Kaafir, and we fight him for his kufr. Since, he knew the religion of the Messenger, but did not follow it, and he knew Shirk, but did not abandon it, alongside his not having any hatred for the deen of the Messenger, and nor for anyone who has entered into it, and nor does he praise Shirk and nor does he beautify it to the people.

Da’wah and trials

One need not look further than the lives of the Messengers of Allah to appreciate and understand the magnitude and consequences of practising Islam and proclaiming Allah’s message to mankind.
Indeed, if Allah loves a people, He tests them – to see if they are true to what they claim to believe. It has been reported upon the authority of Anas (RA) that the Messenger Muhammad (SAW) said:
“Whenever Allah wills good for His slave, He hastens to punish him (or her) in this life; and when He wills evil for His slave, He withholds punishing him for his sins until he comes before Him on the Day of Judgement.”
None has been tested in the history of man quite like the Anbiyaa’ (Prophets), particularly the five with ‘firm determination’ – Nooh, Ibraheem, Moosa, ‘Eesa and Muhammad (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon them all). They were Allah’s most loved ones, yet He put them through gruelling tests that would have otherwise been unbearable for most others.
They were ridiculed and rejected by their community (disbelievers), attacked, boycotted, exiled, taunted, slandered, persecuted and vilified. Some were even imprisoned, or worse, assassinated (by the Jews).
Nevertheless, Allah (SWT) made their lives a practical example for all people, and, in doing so, demonstrated what we ought to expect from the disbelievers if we follow and call to the Straight Path – that is, rejection, ridicule and persecution.
Every Muslim is tested by Allah, so most certainly, throughout the course of your life, you may well be tested intermittently with hunger, bereavement, poverty and sickness. Allah (SWT) says, in Al-Baqarah, 2:214:
“Or do you reckon that you will enter Jannah without such trials as came to those who passed away before you? They were afflicted with severe poverty and ailments and were so shaken that even the Messenger (of Allah) and those who believed with him (Sahaabah) said, ‘When (will come) the Help of Allah?’ Certainly, the Help of Allah is near!”

Death is Beautiful

There was an interesting conversation between an Ustadz and the jama'ah (congregation) of his religious teaching consisting of senior women. The Ustadz asked his jama'ah, “Do you Ma'ams want to enter paradise?”

All the women answered in unison, “Yeeess….”

The Ustadz asked again, “Don't you Ma'ams want to die today?”

No one answered. Apparently, not even a person wished to die.

With a smile, the Ustadz said, “Then, how can we go to paradise, if we are never dead”. The Ustadz continued his question, “Do you Ma'ams want me to pray for your long life?”

Enthusiastically, they all answered, “Yeeess….”

The Ustadz asked again, “How long do you Ma'ams want to live? A hundred years? Two hundred or even a thousand years?

Even the 80-year old people are already looking awkward, not to mention those who are over a hundred years of age.”

It turned out that the questions just now did not end there. The Ustadz still kept on asking, “Ma'ams, do you love Allah?”

The answer could be guessed. The senior women simultaneously answered yes.

The Ustadz then said, “Usually when a person falls in love, he/she always long to met with his/her lover, don't you Ma'ams already long to meet with Allah?”

Silence. No one answered.

Story of the Repentance of Three Shia Women

Bismillahirrahmaanirrahiem, may salawat and salam be showered upon the noblest Prophet and Messenger, our role model Prophet Muhammad sallallaahu ‘alaihi wasallam, along with his family and his companions.

O Allah, we take refuge in You, we ask for help from You and we put our trust (tawakkal) on You. You are the One Who Starts and Repeats, O Allah we take refuge from the evils of our actions and we ask for help from You to always obey You, and on You we put trust (tawakkal) for all our affairs.

Since birth, what I knew of my aqeedah was only ghuluw (excessive) in loving the Ahlul Bait. We used to beg for help from them, swear by their names and return to them each time we faced disasters. My two sisters and I had completely absorbed this aqeedah since childhood.

We indeed came from a genuine Shiah family. We did not know about the madzhab of Ahlus Sunnah wal Jama’ah except that they are enemies of the Ahlul Bait of Rasulullah sallallaahu ‘alaihi wasallam. They had seized the caliphate from the hand of the Amirul Mu'mineen, Ali bin Abi Thalib Radhiyallahu’anhu, and they were the ones who killed Husain.

This aqeedah was more and more embedded strongly in our selves throughout the days of “Tahrim”, i.e. the day of mourning the Ahlul Bait, thus was also spoken by our Shaykh in the occasion of Husainiyyah and in the mourning cassettes that filled my drawer.

I didn't know anything about their (Ahlus Sunnah's) aqeedah at all. All that I knew about them was just that they are the people of munafiq who want to drive the noble Ahlul Bait into a corner.

The above factors are enough to cause the onset of a deep hatred in me against the adherents of that madzhab, the madzhab of Ahlus Sunnah wal Jama’ah.

Tarek Mehanna’s Sentencing speech

Read to Judge O’Toole during his sentencing, April 12th 2012.

In the name of God the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Exactly four years ago this month I was finishing my work shift at a local hospital. As I was walking to my car I was approached by two federal agents. They said that I had a choice to make: I could do things the easy way, or I could do them the hard way. The “easy “ way, as they explained, was that I would become an informant for the government, and if I did so I would never see the inside of a courtroom or a prison cell. As for the hard way, this is it. Here I am, having spent the majority of the four years since then in a solitary cell the size of a small closet, in which I am locked down for 23 hours each day. The FBI and these prosecutors worked very hard—and the government spent millions of tax dollars – to put me in that cell, keep me there, put me on trial, and finally to have me stand here before you today to be sentenced to even more time in a cell.

In the weeks leading up to this moment, many people have offered suggestions as to what I should say to you. Some said I should plead for mercy in hopes of a light sentence, while others suggested I would be hit hard either way. But what I want to do is just talk about myself for a few minutes.

When I refused to become an informant, the government responded by charging me with the “crime” of supporting the mujahideen fighting the occupation of Muslim countries around the world. Or as they like to call them, “terrorists.” I wasn’t born in a Muslim country, though. I was born and raised right here in America and this angers many people: how is it that I can be an American and believe the things I believe, take the positions I take? Everything a man is exposed to in his environment becomes an ingredient that shapes his outlook, and I’m no different. So, in more ways than one, it’s because of America that I am who I am.

I AM A PALESTINIAN CHILD

How full of sin I am, I always complain about things that are not to my liking. How full of sin I am, I always feel cramped in my situation which in fact is full of joys. How full of sin I am, when I grin widely because of the things that please me. How full of sin I am, when I use all these special facilities for committing transgression against Allah. How full of sin I am, when I finish the delicious foods, that I always delight in with a surge of appetite, without any feeling of gratefulness ever expressed. How full of sin I am, when I wound the hearts of my parents, who love me very much, with my bellows and rebelliousness. How full of sin I am, when I hurt my friends with my rough behaviors.

Indeed………………. I am amongst those who are sinful………

While there, far in the land of Palestine, as well as in the distant City of Gaza.... there, my little sisters are crying, my mother is wailing, my father is fighting off the pain, and my brothers are sorrowful. They are the ones who deserve to complain about their conditions. They are the ones who ought to feel cramped because of the damage to the wheels of life. They are the ones who deserve to be sad, to moan and cry.

Not us….. It is not us who deserve to complain to God, it is not us who deserve to feel cramped with our situations, it is not us who deserve to be sad, to moan and cry on our conditions. And it is not us who ought to feel stressed for the wickedness of the dunya.

Benefiting from the Qur’an

If you truly want to benefit from the Qur’an, your heart must be attentive and alert when reciting it or listening to it. Listen to it carefully with presence of mind, paying attention to it as if Allah Himself was speaking to you directly. Understand that this Qur’an is an address directed to you from Allah, Most High, upon the tongue of His Messenger (SAW). Allah, Most High, says, “Truly there is a reminder in this for anyone who has a heart, or who listens attentively with presence of mind.” (Qaf 50:37)

A deep and lasting impression is dependent upon something that will stimulate a person, a location that can be influenced, his being in the right condition, and removing any barrier that would impede this from happening.

This verse mentions of all of these in the most succinct and lucid of ways; clearly articulating the intended meaning. “Truly there is a reminder in this” refers to the previous verses of this chapter. This, the Qur’an, is the stimulus. “for anyone who has a heart” refers to the location that can be influenced. The heart referred to here is the living heart: the heart that is aware of Allah. He, Most High, says, "That he or it (Muhammad SAW or the Qur'an) may give warning to him who is living (a healthy minded the believer), and that Word (charge) may be justified against the disbelievers (dead, as they reject the warnings)." (Ya-Sin 36:70) i.e. "those whose hearts are alive." “or who listens attentively,” i.e. directs his faculty of hearing towards it and pays it the utmost attention. This is the condition that must exist for a person to be roused by the words. “with presence of mind,” i.e. with an alert and present heart, not one that is unmindful and absent. Ibn Qutaybah said, ‘i.e. a person who listens attentively to Allah’s Book with presence of heart and mind, not someone who is unmindful with an absent air.’

Media policy of the disbelievers against Muslims

The confrontation between the camp of Imaan and the camp of kuffr has become very intense. Many people have been killed or wounded, many lands have been ravaged. But the war has not only extended to guns and bullets, tanks, planes and artillery. The propaganda machine in this time of war is also very busy fighting a psychological war, adopted by the political parties and organizations that do not want the Allah's law to be implemented. They have spread many lies, distortions, character assassinations seeking to affect the public opinion and to implant an image in the minds of the people to help them in their military objectives. They target to mislead the masses in order to achieve their objectives.

Those groups and organizations target to mislead the Muslim masses that support Islam and its ruling with full conviction and divert them away from them. They know that because their objectives are not accepted by the Muslims, they have to distort the reality and use satanic tricks to dazzle people with their words.

The media policy of misleading the masses is established on three foundations.
1- Media deviation
2-Propaganda
3-Psychological warfare

The camps of the non-muslims have adopted these three foundations as their media policies of distortion to make people stand with them or to turn away from the people of Tawheed and Jihad.

Something to ponder over !!!

It's so easy to celebrate mothers/fathers day
but difficult to obey our parents!

It's so easy to waste money in celebrating birthdays

but difficult to give money 2 charity!

It's so easy 2 waste our time watching a 3 hour movie
but difficult 2 spend 5 minutes offering our salah!

It's so easy 2 cry when listening 2 soppy songs
but difficult 2 cry when listening 2 the Quran!

It's easy 2 follow a bid'aah (innovation)
but difficult 2 follow a sunnah!

WHY?

WHY IS IT EASY 2 LOVE THE CREATION !
BUT DIFFICULT TO OBEY THE CREATOR !

“Has not the time come for the hearts of those who believe to be affected by Allah’s Reminder (this Qur’an), and that which has been revealed of the truth, lest they become as those who received the Scripture before (i.e. Jews and Christians), and the term was prolonged for them and so their hearts were hardened?” [Al-Hadeed 57:16]

The student of knowledge is a caller to Islam

The purpose of studying and seeking knowledge in Islam is to gain a better understanding of Allah, His Names and Attributes and to know what is lawful and unlawful.
Our aim in life is to please Allah and this is achieved by doing what He has commanded us to do and by abstaining from what He has forbidden in the divine Text.

It therefore follows that the intention of the Taalib ul-‘Ilm (seeker of knowledge) should be to acquire knowledge in order to act upon it, not to collect it as information only.

With this in mind, the one from whom knowledge is sought should be upright and trustworthy and most importantly, a person of action, who has inherited the duties of the previous Prophets and applies the divine rules and Text to current affairs.

If the teacher is merely a theologist and not a person of action, those who learn from him will not be guided to action (‘amal) and will consequently fail to achieve the ultimate purpose in life – irdaa’ Allah (to please Allah).
Trustworthiness is ascertained by looking at one’s dedication to the faraa’id (obligations) and denunciation of what is clearly deemed to be forbidden.

Part 1: Preserving Petrodollars and Controlling the Arab Spring

The ramifications of recent events in the Arab World will reverberate to effect the geopolitical realities of nations across the planet. This is particularly evident when analyzed through the lens of an international economy still struggling to recover from the global financial crisis of late 2007. The international economy today is marked both by uncertainty and interconnectedness. The Arab world, once classified as the final frontier for neo-liberal globalization, now has the potential to determine not only its own destiny but also the direction of the post-crisis economy generally.

That reality became all the more complicated with the recent election of Islamist regimes in the wake of the ‘Arab Spring’. Today political Islam seems ascendant throughout the Middle East and the consequences of such an outcome are being contemplated by leading figures all over the world. Massive efforts are underway to insert a New Middle East and North Africa into the fold of Western-dominant globalization. In such an interconnected international arena, with leading powers dependant on energy imports, international capital flows, and exports to foreign markets, the policies adopted by the new Arab regimes will either facilitate a maintenance of the status quo or an initial movement toward a world of greater multipolarity.

Oh People of France !!!

Minbar Ansar ul Deen Presents:
Oh People of France
“Would you arrest a man just because he says My Lord is Allaah” ?

In the last week we have seen a spate of arrests in France targeting the Muslim community for no other crime other than the fact they believe all worship, and obedience should be directed to Allaah alone and not the false god Sarkozy or his disbelieving, crusading government.

Sarkozy who was trailing in the French election polls, looked set to lose to the opposing socialist candidate in May, and now Sarkozy has used the events of Muhammad Merah and the current arrests of innocent Muslims in France as a stepping stone to revive his fledgling political career.

Muslims in France have been living peacefully with their fellow citizen for decades, but the same could not been said for the occupying and Crusading French government which not only continues to kill innocent Muslims in Afghanistan, but has launched a campaign of terror, hate, prejudice and injustice against the Muslim community, targeting the most important symbols of the Islamic faith such as the right to call for the worship and obedience to Allaah alone, the Niqab and Halal meat amongst others in France.

Whoever got to know him loved him

When the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) emigrated from Makkah to Madînah, he passed by the tent of Umm Ma`bad. She witnessed some of his miracles, then swore fealty to him in Islam before he departed. When her husband came back, he was surprised to find with her a quantity of milk. He asked her: “Where you have got this from, O Umm Ma`bad, while our sheep is alone and untouched and we have no milk cow in our home?” She said: “Nay, but by Allah, a blessed man passed by our way and did so and so.” He said: “Describe him to me, O Umm Ma`bad.”

“I saw a man who is handsome, of glowing countenance, and of good proportions, with neither a large stomach nor a small head. He is smart of appearance, with balanced features, deep black eyes, and long eyelashes. His voice is not coarse. He has a long neck, a full rounded beard, and thick eyebrows that meet each other. When he is silent, he is stately and composed, and when he speaks, his appearance is impressive.

“He is the most beautiful and striking man from a distance and the best and most beautiful from close up. He is well spoken, clear in what he says, saying neither too much nor too little, his words flowing forth like a perfect string of pearls.

Arbitration to Taghout !

 Photo
By Sheikh Omar Bakri Muhammad (May Allah keep him protected and safe for His Deen and Ummah - Ameen)

Arbitration (referring to someone for judgement) is an act of worship in Islam. For this reason, it should only be done to Allah and His Messenger (SAW). However, there are some individuals who make excuses and attempt to justify arbitration to taghout (false gods or judges). The main excuses people use to justify arbitration to taghout will be refuted in this article, inshallah.

1. It is not arbitration; we are just going there to claim back our rights.

Some people claim that if we do not go to court and fight for our rights, we will lose them. Consequently, they claim that they are not arbitrating to taghout; rather, they are just going there to claim their rights.
It is important to bear in mind that a man will be accounted for every word he utters. Allah says:

“Not a word does he (or she) utter, but there is a watcher by him ready (to record it).” (Qaaf, 50:18)

“So whosoever does good equal to the weight of an atom (or a small ant), shall see it. And whosoever does evil equal to the weight of an atom (or a small ant), shall see it.” (Az-Zalzalah, 99:7—8)

So you will be accounted for everything that you do and say; in fact, a single word is enough to take you to Hell, and a single word could take you to Paradise. Allah’s Messenger (SAW) said: “Verily, a man will say a word which angers Allah while not being aware of its consequences. For this one word he will fall down in Hell for 70 years.” (Sunan Ibn Majah)

Today this word (statement) is, “It is not arbitration; we are just going there for our huqooq (rights).” This excuse is the most evil one as it is a way of trying to deceive the hukm (ruling). This false claim can be countered in the following ways:
  • The reality of something does not change by changing its name

If you DO NOT Pray, you are NOT a Muslim !!!

Many people mistakenly believe that it is sufficient for one to merely claim to be Muslim and declare the Kalimah, or shahadah, (‘Laa ilaaha illallah’) in order to be considered Muslim. Whoever declares ‘Laa ilaaha illallah’ (there is no god worthy of worship but Allah) will enter Jannah (Paradise),” is a hadeeth (saying) of the Messenger Muhammad (SAW) that is often misconceived and quoted in order to justify this erroneous idea.

Although it is correct that a person be presumed Muslim for carrying a Muslim name, conveying the Islamic greetings and testifying the Kalimah, in reality they may not be Muslim unless they practise the commands of Allah, where He (SWT) says in the Qur’an, Al-Baqarah 2:8:
“And among mankind are those who say. ‘We believe in Allah and the Last Day,’ but they are not believers.”

Salah (the five daily prayers) epitomizes Imaan (belief in Allah). It is one of the cornerstones and pillars of the Deen (religion). Without it, one has no – or very little – Imaan. A number of learned scholars, such as Imaam al-Qurtubi (RH), even argue that Salah is the manifestation of Imaan (belief in Allah). This is because Salah consists of intentions (i’tiqaad, or ‘belief’), sayings (recitation of the Qur’an) and physical actions – all of which are, of course, the building blocks of Imaan.

    10 Sins Of Democracy

This is a brief review which explains some of the destructive and dangerous effects resulting from plunging into the quagmire of democracy by which many people have been deceived due to putting on their hopes on it even though it is clearly against the methodology of Allah, just as what we are going to explain in this brief study, especially that there have been a lot of bitter experiences encountered by those people who have been deceived by this game and where its diversion and debauchery aspects were shown.

    1. This system makes us forgetful towards the confrontation in behavior between the jahiliyah and Islam, between the haqbatil, because the existence of either one of them allows the extinction of the other, it is not ever possible for the two to mix together. Anyone who thinks that through the general election, the jahilliyah fractions will submit all the institutions to Islam is mistaken as this is clearly in contrast to the rationality, nash and sunan (decision of Allah) which had taken place to the earlier ummahs.

"On account of their arrogance in the land and their plotting of Evil, but the plotting of Evil will hem in only the authors thereof. Now are they but looking for the way the ancients were dealt with? But no change wilt thou find in Allah's way (of dealing): no turning off wilt thou find in Allah's way (of dealing)" (Surat Faathir: 43)

    2. The system of democracy will cause the decay in the values of true aqeedah which was believed and practiced by Rasulullah SAW and the noble Sahabahs. It will cause the spread of bid'ah, of not studying and teaching the true aqeedah to mankind because its teachings cause divisions amongst the party members. In fact, it could make someone to be excluded from the party that it can reduce the total number of votes and voters.
