The Emergence of Ahlul-Bid’ah !!!

Abul-Qaasim Al-Laalikaa’ee said:

“Then the past generations came to an end… And a crass uncivilized group of people appeared  who claimed that they were the successors of (the Salaf) who came before them, and that they were greater than them in terms of what they had obtained (As the Ash’arees say, “The way of the Salaf is safer, but the way of the khalaf is wiser and more knowledgeable.”), and in terms of the realities of the intellect which they had claimed to reach, and in terms of being able to study things in detail.

And they claimed that the predecessors kept away from examining these matters closely because they were incapable of doing that. And they claimed that the predecessors had abandoned speaking to them (innovators), because they had little understanding. And they claimed that supporting their way consisted of arguing with them.

So these claims were such that they ended up replacing the pure with the disgusting,  and the old and original with the new and innovated. And (so) they abandoned that which the Messenger (saws) was upon…

They entered into the arenas of the confused and baffled and they invented weird understandings and contrived proofs that were contrary to the Book and the Sunnah – desiring to be victorious and desiring to vanquish those who opposed their words and speeches. Then they took their speech as a Deen and a true belief, despite all the proofs, arguments and objections against them and they labelled any Muslim who did not believe (their belief) as being misguided and astray. And they called themselves Ahlus-Sunnah Wal-Jamaa’ah, and labelled anyone who opposed them as being ignorant and lacking intellect...

(Abu ‘Uthmaan As-Saaboni said, regarding the signs of the people of innovation (Ahlul Bid’ah):
“And the characteristics (resulting) from (the effects of) innovation upon their people are obvious, and manifestly clear.
The most apparent of their signs and characteristics is the severity of their enmity and hatred towards the carriers of the narrations of the Prophet (saws), their disdain of them, their scorn of them (considering them to be valueless) and calling them …” and then he mentions, “…Dhaahiriyyah (Literalists)…”
[‘Aqeedatus Salaf Wa Ashaabul Hadeeth, by Abu ‘Uthmaan As-Saaboonee, p. 101])

And such people made themselves persevere in scorning and disdaining the science of transmitting narrations (of the Salaf) and they induced the people to withdraw from professing the narrations, because they were ignorant of their chains of transmition and because of the difficulty involved in aspiring to understand their meanings, and because of their inability to understand the rulings of the Shari’ah that are derived from them, and because of their inability to carry out the duties that are involved in professing them.”

[Sharh Usool I’tiqaad Ahlus-Sunnah Wal-Jamaa’ah, 1/17-20]
