Statement on the Kenyan Uprising

Statement on Kenyan Uprising

The Kenyan Uprising: In Defense of the Muslim Youth of Mombasa

“The believers, men and women, are Awliya’ (helpers, supporters, friends, protectors) of one another. They enjoin (on the people) Al-Ma’roof (i.e. Islamic Monotheism and all that Islam orders one to do), and forbid (people) from Al-Munkar (i.e. polytheism and disbelief of all kinds, and all that Islam has forbidden), they perform As-Salat and give the Zakat, and obey Allah and His Messenger. Allah will have His Mercy on them. Surely Allah is All-Mighty, All-Wise.” (Translated meaning of Qur’an, 9:71)
From the enumerable proofs for the truthfulness of the message of Islam is the amazing bond of brotherhood shared by Muslims around the world that transcends borders, colour, race, tribe or any other barrier for that matter. A Muslim is a brother to another Muslim, and he is always duty-bound by Islam to help him in accordance with his capability in every difficult circumstance.

Today, the arenas of oppression against Muslims are many: Palestine, Iraq, Afghanistan, Burma, Xinjiang, Somalia and Kashmir. One such arena of oppression which has come to light in recently is the east African country of Kenya.

Yesterday, there was an explosion of anger from the youth of Mombasa, Kenya, against the oppressive regime after the brutal extrajudicial killing of Sheikh Aboud Rogo Mohammed. This show of anger should not come as a surprise to the regime since it is well known – to Muslims, journalists and human rights organizations in Kenya – that Sheikh Aboud Rogo himself has repeatedly said that the security services from the Kenyan government have repeatedly “threatened” and tried to “kidnap” him on various occasions.

It should also be noted that ever since the Kenyan government signed a pact of aggression with America, the master of tyrannical regimes, to fight against innocent Muslims in Somalia and stop the rise of Sharia, it has increased its curtailment of basic rights for the Muslims. So we find that countless numbers of them have been arrested and tortured under the guise of fighting terrorism, which is in reality nothing more than a fight to extinguish any sentiments of Islam and opposition to the government’s current foreign policy. We find that several high profile activists from the community have been abducted by the security services only to have been found dead and mutilated in various parts of Kenya. And now we find that some people are feigning surprise at the uprising of the youth against the murder of their innocent brother?

A Message to the Kenyan government

“Say to them: ‘Travel in the land and see how has been the end of the criminals (those who denied Allah’s Messengers and disobeyed Allah).’” (Translated meaning of Qur’an, 27:69)
Bismillahi Ar-Rahman Ar-Rahim
Peace be upon the followers of guidance,
From the sons of Islam to the government of Kenya and its various participants: We invite you to embrace Islam so that you may have success in this life and the Hereafter. Should you choose to refuse then know that your participation in the oppression and killing of Muslims in Kenya and Somalia is a great sin in the eyes of Allah, the Creator of you, your mothers, the land in which you step on and the subjects whom you govern (by laws you and you fathers have made, without any authority from Allah). Verily there is enough admonition for those who contemplate in the destruction of Pharaoh after his opposition to Allah and oppression of the Muslims from Children of Israel.

A Message to the Ulama (Scholars) of Truth in Kenya

“The ulama are the inheritors of the Prophets.” (Abu Dawood, At-Tirmidhi and Ibn Hibbaan)
To the noble ulama of haq in Kenya, from your sons in the Ummah:
As-Salamu ‘Alaikum wa-Rahmatullah,
Remember, oh ulama, that you are the inheritors of Rasullaah, a man who was deprived of rest for years; a man who faced abused, torture, slander, fabrications, threats and various other forms of harm from his enemies due to speaking the truth that Allah revealed to him, but in the end the victory was his and Inshallaah it will be for you our dear ulama. So be steadfast, look ahead to Jannah and do not let the barking of dogs to your left or right distract you from your focus.

A Message to the Muslims of Kenya, Particularly the Noble Youth of Mombasa

Oh our noble brothers from Kenya, may Allah bless you for your anger in His sake; indeed it is a forgotten act of worship that has been abandoned in these time of ours. How many Muslims are being killed in Iraq, Afghanistan, Burma, Palestine and elsewhere yet the hearts are cold, the tongues are silent and bodies are stagnant?

Imam Ibn Qayyim Al-Jawziyyah said: “Indeed, what kind of piety is there in a person who witnesses Allah’s sanctities being violated, his religion abandoned, the Sunnah of His Messenger shunned, and yet remains still with a cold heart and a shut mouth? Such a person is like a dumb Shaitan! In the same way the one who talks falsehood is a speaking Shaitan. Isn’t the misfortune of Islam due only to those who, whenever their life and food are secure, would not care about what happens to the religion? The best among them would offer a sorry face. But if they were challenged in one of the things their heart is attached to, like their money, they would spare no efforts to get it back. These people, besides deserving the anger of Allah, are afflicted with the greatest calamity without even knowing it: They have a dead heart. Indeed the more alive a person’s heart is, the stronger its anger for the sake of Allah and the more complete his support to Islam and Muslims.” (I’lam al-Muwaqqi’een, volume 2, page 176)

Oh shabaab (youth) of Mombasa, do not be affected by the so-called “commanding good” of the supposed community leaders, whose sambusas, chapatti, vitumbua and mandazi are paid from the pockets of Raila Odinga and Barack Obama; for indeed, had they been concerned about the rights of Allah and His servants, they would have strongly condemned and opposed the government’s opposition to Shariah and its oppression and killing of Muslims in Kenya and Somalia.
So continue, oh sons of Islam, holding steadfast to your Deen; support each other and all Muslims, home and abroad, until the victory of Allah comes to you.

May Allah grant ease, guidance and victory for the Muslims of Kenya, Somalia, Burma, Syria and everywhere else on Earth-Ameen.
