The oppression in Syria has now continued for 11 months with many lives, families and homes of the Muslims destroyed. Unfortunately, the crisis in Syria has exposed certain failures within the Muslim Ummah. Some of the people that have been primarily exposed are:
The Arab Leaders:
While the situation in Syria worsens we see the failure of the Arab leaders exposed again. Not only have they failed in terms of sending their troops and military support to the Muslims in Syria – which they make readily available for the Americans/ British in their war against Islam and Muslims. They have exposed their desires to refer to the kuffar and their kufr. The Arab League which consists of countries like Saudi Arabia, Egypt and the Gulf states has done nothing except draft resolutions and play political games. None of the leaders have looked to Islam as a solution.
The Government Scholars:
These people have remained virtual silent as if they were blind to what is occurring in Syria. These scholars that are so eager to defend the disbelievers and apostate leaders and condemn the Mujahideen and Islamic activists have done nothing. Instead of calling to defend the Muslims of Syria and rallying the Muslims to support them, they are ignoring the crisis and putting the Ummah into a slumber.

Local Imams:
Those that should guide the Muslims are instead misguiding the Ummah. Rather than address the crisis in Syria, majority of the mosques leaders have abandoned
our brother and sisters. The Imams have carried on as if there are no atrocities taking place. Even to make dua for the Muslims of Syria has become too difficult.
We as Muslims should realize that on the Day of Judgement we too will be exposed if we do nothing for the Muslims of Syria. Thousands of Muslims are being tortured, raped and murdered with no response from the Ummah. It is not time for politics or negotiating, it is time for actions. The Muslims need to move to defend our brothers and sisters.
As Muslims we should understand that the only solution for the crisis in Syria needs to be derived from the Quran and the Sunnah and Allah (swt) give us instruction in the Quran that will bring the Muslims out of this oppression and this onslaught that they are facing. Allah (swt) commands us to act:
And fight in the Way of Allah those who fight you, but transgress not the limits. Truly, Allah likes not the transgressors. [2:190]
Islam requires action from us. We cannot remain idle while our brothers and sisters are suffering. It is about time that the Muslims around the world woke up from their slumber; it is about time that we sacrificed our time, our wealth and our voices in support of our brothers and sisters in Syria and that we called for the end of the oppressive Assad regime and called for the establishment of a way of life that would bring peace, justice and truth which is the shariah of Allah (swt).
