Abu Hurayrah (ra) said that the Messenger of Allah (pbuh) said, “May the man before whom I am mentioned – and he does not send salat (praises) upon me – be humiliated. And may a man upon whom Ramadan enters and then passes and his sins are not forgiven, be humiliated. And may a man whose parents (or one of them) reached old age in his presence, and they were not a cause for his entrance to Paradise, be humiliated.”

Commentary:
The term “Ragima Unfuh” in the above Hadith (translated above as ‘may he be humiliated) literally means ‘may his nose be rubbed in dirt’, the term may also be translated as disgraced is the one who…., humiliated is the one who….. or that this person is a loser.
The Prophet (pbuh) saying, “And may a man upon whom Ramadan enters and then passes and his sins are not forgiven, be humiliated.”
This statement informs us that Ramadan is a time in which a Muslim should be seeking the forgiveness of Allah through the various means which are available to him during this blessed month such as: Fasting sincerely for the sake of Allah, Tarweeh (night prayers) and giving charity etc.
This Hadith also informs us that the one who is disgraced, humiliated and thus a true loser is the one who the month of Ramadan enters upon and passes and his sins are not forgiven.
In conclusion, Allah provides for us during the month of Ramadan ample time and chance to avail the opportunity (of earning His forgiveness). The one’s who miss out on this opportunity only do so due to their own negligence and carelessness.
We ask Allah to make us from those whom He forgives during the upcoming month of Ramadan.
