A Muslim man cannot marry a christian or jewish
woman unless she is chaste. A marriage to an unchaste christian or
jewish woman by a Muslim man would not be valid. Allah says:
"This day (all) good foods have been made lawful, and the food of those who were given the Scripture is lawful for you and your food is lawful for them. And (lawful in marriage are) chaste women from among the believers and chaste women from among those who were given the Scripture before you, when you have given them their due compensation, desiring chastity, not unlawful sexual intercourse or taking (secret) lovers." [5:5]
Furthermore, a Muslim man is forbidden from marrying a christian or jewish woman in a predominantly disbelieving society, for the following reasons:
- His Islamic rights as a husband will not be protected.
- He can easily be prevented from implementing the obligation to forbid evil and enjoin good (according to Islam) in his family.
- His christian/jewish wife can very easily prevent him from raising his future children as pious Muslims, given the laws of such societies.
- Given the very real and very likely event of divorce in such societies, his children, property and honor are at great risk due to their unjust divorce laws, and especially biased shown against Muslim men.
One of the maxims of Islamic law is:
“The basic principle: whatever is harmful is prohibited.”
The Prophet (saws) said:
“There shall be no harming, and no harm shall be met by harm.”

Certainly, a Muslim man who marries a christian or jewish woman in a predominately disbelieving society will expose himself and his future children to much harm, related to the above four points.
And Allah knows best…
