There are some events that took place on the 10th of the month of Muharram, which includes:

1- Moses and the believers among his people were saved from Pharaoh. This was confirmed in an Authentic Hadith.

2- Aminah bint Wahb became pregnant with the Prophet (saws). This was reported by Ibn Katheer in As-Seerah from the narration by Al-Haafith Ibn ‘Asaakir.

3- The detachment led by Muhammad ibn Maslamah towards Najd. This is the detachment during which Thumaamah ibn Uthaal was taken as a prisoner. Al-Bayhaqi mentioned this in Dalaa’il An-Nubuwwah.

4- The assassination of Al-Husayn ibn ‘Ali (ra). Al-Haakim reported this in Al-Mustadrak and Abu Nu’aym reported it in Ma’rifatus-Sahaabah.

5- The time when the Ka’bah used to be clothed each year, which was on the day of ‘Aashoora’ (this was in the old times and not now). The Hadith regarding this was reported by Al-Bukhari in his Saheeh.

However, after investigation, we have not come across a Hadith, a statement of the Companions, or a saying of the scholars that says that the Prophet (saws) married Khadeejah (ra) on this day.

Anwar Al-Kashmeeri mentioned in his book, Al-‘Arf Ash-Shathi that there is a strong Hadith that says that the Hour will take place on the tenth of Muharram, but we have not been able to find this Hadith. On the other hand, there was a Hadith that states that the Hour will take place on ‘Aashoora’, and Ibn Hajar stated in Lisaan Al-Meezaan that Ibn Al-Jawzi reported it in Al-Mawdhoo’aat (the Fabricated Ahadith) and then said, “No sound person would doubt that this Hadith is not Fabricated.”

There is another Hadith which states that the Prophet (saw) came to Madinah on the Day of ‘Aashoora’ and learned that the Jews were Fasting on this day. This Hadith was reported by Al-Bukhari and Muslim and narrated by Ibn Abbaas (ra).

However, Mubaarak Poori said in Mir’aat Al-Mafaateeh:
"This Hadith is a bit confusing as it indicates that when the Prophet (saws) came to Madinah, he learned that the Jews were fasting on the day of ‘Aashoora’, because the Prophet (saws) came to Madinah in Rabee’ Al-Awwal, and the answer to this is that what is meant is that the first time he (saws) knew about it and asked about it was after he had come to Madinah, or that there are some parts of the narration that have been omitted. So what can be understood is that he (saws) came to Madinah and stayed in it until the Day of ‘Aashoora’ and then learned that the Jews were fasting on this day, and it is probable that those Jews calculated the day of ‘Aashoora’ according to the Gregorian calendar… ”
