The Saved Eyes

A piece of advice...

Be Merciful To Your Eyes.

***********************************************
************
Rasulullah (SAW) said in a hadith, ''All eyes are weeping on the Day of Judgment except three eyes: First, those eyes which shed tear out of fear of God. Second, those eyes which do not see unlawful things. Third, those eyes which pass the night (not sleeping) because of defending Allah's religion." (At-Tirmidhi)

Another version says:
Ibn Abbas related that he heard Rasulullah (SAW) saying: “The fire will not touch the two pairs of eyes; one that sheds tears out of fear of Allah and the other that keeps watch throughout the night in the cause of Allah.” (
At-Tirmidhi and An-Nasa’i)

According to a riwayat (tradition), a man of tasawwuf named Fudhail bin Ayyadh, was initially someone who was only after his own base desires and liked to wander in places full of vices till the late of the night. One night, while we he was staggering down the street on his way home, he faintly heard someone reciting the Qur'an from one of the nearby houses.

"Has not the Time arrived for the Believers that their hearts in all humility should engage in the remembrance of Allah and of the Truth which has been revealed (to them), and that they should not become like those to whom was given Revelation aforetime, but long ages passed over them and their hearts grew hard? For many among them are rebellious transgressors..'' (Qur’an 57:16)

As soon as he reached home, he repeated the recitation that he had just heard and not realizing, his tears flowed down his cheeks. He felt an extraordinary fear inside him. His heart trembled when he remembered all the vices he had ever done. In the end, he returned to the true path due to his fear of Allah SWT.

Blessed are the people who have done wrong in their lives and then regretted and their eyes were wet from the tears of repentance. Allah SWT is The Most Forgiving for the sins that had been done by His slaves. Eyes like those, Insha'Allah, will be amongst the eyes that will not weep on Judgement Day.

Secondly, the eyes that are turned away from seeing things forbidden by Allah SWT. Prophet Yusuf (Joseph) AS refused Zulaikha’s invitation to do immoral acts. In the condition and opportunity that presented itself, Prophet Yusuf (AS) managed to defeat his carnal desires. Looking at today’s conditions, our eyes are weary from things that reek of pornography, be it through the print media, electronic as well through daily events. Anybody can easily view pictures that can get one’s desire aroused

What’s even sadder, those things have become the norms and are considered natural by some sections of the society. The eyes that will never weep on the day of judgement are the eyes that could be turned away from things forbidden by Allah SWT, including those that reek of pornography.

Thirdly, the eyes that do not sleep because of defending Allah’s religion. For example, the eyes of the Islamic fighters who are protecting the wholeness of religion and their Muslim brothers and sisters and erecting the foundation of pure Islam. The struggle is not only limited to jehaad in the form of physical battle only, but also includes every action which aimed at defending the purity of the religion of Allah SWT.

Undoubtedly, it is not easy to own eyes which will never cry on the day of judgement. Patience and struggles are required in order to obtain them.
